.Mail - the first summary

Thank you for your feedback!

When I was publishing the .Mail concept on my site (7.7.2012) just a bit over a week ago I wasn't expecting that much feedback. It's amazing because just 2 days later the concept got featured on TheIndustry, hackernews, osnews, WebDesignerDepot & Fast Company and thousands of people shared it via Twitter, Facebook etc. (shitstorms included)

I got more than 500 emails during the first 3 days and overwhelming feedback from around the world. The discussion about .Mail was amazing and it looks like people have some serious interest in my thoughts on E-Mail. And I'm still catching up on all mails. (what an ironie)

But what's next?

This project started as a side project for myself and it's still work in progress. There are a lot of ideas which I didn't publish yet. And of course I will hold back on publishing them until I teamed up with some developers to start realizing this mail concept. But I promise that I'll keep developing the ideas and keep you posted via twitter. Currently I'm developing a prototype and then move into development. A MacOSX app is going to be the first release.

The reason why I already have published some ideas is that I would love to see some of the functionalities and ideas behind my thoughts in mail clients like Sparrow, Gmail, Yahoo etc. Especially the idea of actionsteps and centralized attachments is something that every email client should support in order to make working with emails more productive and fun again. (but that's just my opinion)

Of course I still looking forward to getting your feedback and thoughts so please don't hesitate to drop me a line at tobias (at) vanschneider .com - Thank you SO MUCH for all your fantastic support, it really motivates me.

PS: Don't forget to read my interview with FastCompany with a bit more information about my thoughts behind.

Thank you!
